HISTORY

The Gabriel the Owl jewelry store has been a fixture of Huatulco since 1994, when it was first opened by Gabriel “the Owl” Vazquez .

Gabriel started in the jewelry business at an early age. As a young boy of 10, he was already working on the streets of Acapulco, selling jewelry to supplement his family´s income. He had already picked up the nickname “the Owl”, based on the mexican tradition of an owl being intelligent, hard working, driven for success and very wise.

In 1994 and now with a young familiy of his own, Gabriel was looking for a town where his family could enjoy a better quality of life. They decided to emigrate to the beautiful Huatulco from Acapulco.

With over 30 years of experience in the jewelry business, Gabriel became a pioneer when he opened his shop in Huatulco. He then dedicated the remaining 11 years of his life doing what he was most passionate about, operating the best possible jewelry store.

Since Gabriel´s passing in 2005, his wife and sons have operated the business with the same traditions and standards that Gabriel himself founded.
